Scope and ContentsHigh School and college theater experiences, Vanderbilt University, Nashville; US Air Corps World War II; Yale Drama School 1945-47; stage manager summer theater, Wellesley College 1947-8; director Town Theater, Columbia, SC 1947-49; director National Broadcasting Company 1949-55: Philco playhouse and other programs; films including "Marty," 1955, "Separate Tables," 1958, and "Middle of the Night," 1959; association with Hecht, Hill and Lancaster from 1955; camera techniques, television and film: problems of outdoor and location shooting, differences from studio work; promotional work for movies, talk shows; jurisdictional dispute between East Coast directors and Screen Directors Guild 1959; reminiscences of Fred Coe, Paddy Chayevsky, Joe La Shelle, Kim Novak, others.
