Biographical Note

Chen Zhaoying was born in Zhejiang. Chen had a military education and participated in the 1911 revolutions. He became a regimental commander in the Zhejiang Army and sided with Sun Yat-sen in 1918. He participated in the 1926 March 20th Incident (also known as the Canton Coup) with Chiang Kai-shek and Sun Yat-sen. Chen became a member of the KMT and a member of the Legislative Yuan from 1928 to 1934. He headed the KMT provincial offices in Fujian and Jiangxi

Scope and Contents

In this interview, Chen talks about military politics in Zhejiang, his involvement against Chen Jiongming's Canton coup in 1926, and his opinions about other Republican personalities. This interview accompanied by a memoir written by Chen Zhaoying, copied by interviewers
