Biographical Note

He Guoguang was born in Hubei. He graduated from the Military Staff College and served under several Beiyang commanders. He joined the KMT and was an important aide of Chiang Kai-shek. He fought in the civil wars and participated in the anti-Communist campaigns in Jiangxi. In 1934, he served as the head of an advisory group in Sichuan and took part in military and political activities during the Sino-Japanese War
