Biographical Note

Xiang Guofu was born in Hunan. He joined Huang Xing's revolt attempts in 1904. He studied at Waseda University and Kyoto Imperial University. He joined other political scholars in forming Zhengwenshe (政聞社), a group which advocated a constitutional monarchy. He served as a minor official in Beijing from 1912 until 1921, when he became involved in Hunan self-government affairs

Scope and Contents

The interview focuses on Xiang's involvement in Zhengwenshe (政聞社) and includes 40 brief biographies of other important members
