Biographical Note

Zhang Tinge was born in Zhili. He had close relations with members of the Zhili clique. He retired from service after Feng Yuxiang's coup d'etat on October 1924. He later became a prosperous salt merchant in Tianjin. He then served as Mayor of Tianjin from 1934 to 1935 and from 1945 to 1947

Scope and Contents

In the interview, Zhang discusses the warlord politics in the 1920s, as well as his life as a merchant and a politician in Tianjin
