Dancer, choreographer, educator.

Scope and Contents

Family background; drama and dance studies at Carnegie Tech, 1934; dance instructor with sister in Carnegie and Washington, PA; dance instructor, Irene Kaufman Settlement House; choreography to commemorate Edwin L. Drake's capping of oil well; debut at Radio City Music Hall; study with Jose Limon and Martha Hill; association with Humphrey-Weidman Company; Bennington Summer School of the Dance, 1936, 1938; start of dance program at Bennington; recollections of Cecil Kitkat, Doris Humphrey, Martha Hill, Martha Graham, Robert Devore Leigh, Arch Lauterer.
