Isidor Isaac Rabi was a physicist and professor at Columbia University

Scope and Contents

This transcript documents the program held during the dinner celebrating the opening of a memorial room and exhibition, dedicated to Isidor Rabi by the Columbia University community. The program includes the reminiscences of Mel Schwartz, David Cohen, Norman Ramsey, Vernon Hughes, Maurice Goldhaber, Samuel Devons, Chauncey Olinger, and Nancy Lichtenstein. Speakers reflect on different aspects of Rabi's life and work including: relationship with Princeton University; time at Columbia University; role as chairperson and thesis supervisor of Physics Department; experimental research; molecular beam resonance method; and radio frequency spectroscopy. They also share personal encounters and anectdotes. The transcript is accompanied by a copy of a 47 page pamphlet from the event that documents Rabi's life and work
