Scope and ContentsChildhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during depression; B.A., Hunter College, 1945; J.D., Columbia University [CU], 1947: racism, elitism at CU; experience of discrimination against women entering legal profession; diverse early legal experience at law firm Conrad & Smith, 1947-1951; importance of first impression cases, issues never before brought to a court of law; work with husband as lawyer for labor unions in aerospace industry; women's rights cases: development of legal training program for women in subordinate positions at Chase Manhattan Bank, work with organization Non-Traditional Employment for Women; changes in legal profession, broad benefits of studying law; colleague reminiscences.
