Early years, variety of occupations, contacts with anarchists and socialists; 1940 formed meat packers' union in opposition to existing communist-controlled union: defense of workers' rights, strikes, violence; meeting with Perón, 1944; labor support of Peronism, confederation and independent unions; detailed description and leadership of labor march in Buenos Aires October 17, 1945 which restored Perón to power; formation of Labor Party, important contributions; party dissolved at Perón's order, 1946; imprisoned 1948, later released
