Biographical Note

Arnaldo was born in Havana, Cuba on November 19, 1949. He attended public school #7. He studied to be a mechanic at the Julio Antonio Mella School. After his military service, he became a second lieutenant. He worked in Customs, in the Ministry of Education, and as private security. His family practiced Santeria. Arnaldo was interviewed for the project that led to the book How Things Fall Apart. The name is a pseudonym for the project Arnaldo nació en La Habana, Cuba, el 19 de noviembre de 1949. Asistió a la escuela pública #7. Estudió para ser mecánico en la Escuela Julio Antonio Mella. Al realizar el servicio militar, llegó a ser subteniente. Trabajó en la Aduana, en el Ministerio de Educación y como seguridad privada. Su familia practicaba la Santería. Arnaldo fue entrevistado para el proyecto que culminó en la publicación del libro How Things Fall Apart. El nombre es un seudónimo para el proyecto

Scope and Contents

Arnaldo begins the interview discussing his birth. Then, he tells some anecdotes from his childhood. Arnaldo recalls the military service and his jobs. He also recalls his joining the Young Communist League and his later expulsion from the Communist Party Arnaldo comienza la entrevista dialogando sobre su nacimiento. Luego, relata algunas anécdotas que sucedieron en su infancia. Arnaldo recuerda su paso por el servicio militar y sus trabajos. También recuerda su incorporación a la Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas y su posterior expulsión del Partido Comunista
