Railroad union official.

Scope and Contents

Early work experience in railroad industry; development from section leader of local union to officer of General Labor Confederation (CGT), 1936-1943; organization of union local: political beliefs and effect on policy, degrees of independence; analysis of general economic and social conditions in Argentina in 1930 with examples and anecdotes: regional differences, ethnic make-up, foreign influence, wages and housing, health and sanitation; effect of unions, especially in construction, meat-packing, railroads, textiles; labor gains and union growth especially after 1936; strikes, factionalism, deportations; World War II.
