Biographical Note

Army helicopter pilot.

Scope and Contents

The transcript is of taped letters sent by David T. Rizzuto to his family from Vietnam. In the letters he describes his assignment to the 101st Airborne, Vietnam, May-September 1969: city of Hue, effects of war on Vietnamese farmers, combat assault mission on Hamburger Hill, tactical emergency at Chu Lai, relations with fellow pilots, reconnaissaince missions, effects of monsoon season on military operations, helicopter crash and injuries.
