Scope and Contents

Transcription of recordings of several speeches in Spanish, followed by a series of tape-recorded interviews in English (with the aid of an interpreter). The interviews cover a range of subjects on Cuba: agricultural policy, especially the sugar industry, land use, and people's farms; economy in general and foreign trade, future potentialties; revolutionary philosophy, how the Communist revolution worked in different regions, political prisoners and indemnification; local government organizations; questions of leadership, nature and use of power; education, creative arts, voluntary exiles and counter-revolutionaries; relations with the United States: Vietnam, Dominican Republic; missile crisis; United States press; relations with Russia.
