Education in California and Germany; political philosophy; Manhattan Project, Chicago and Oak Ridge; security restrictions and problems; relationships with Army and DuPont Company; tension among scientists; emotional and scientific impact of bomb and its use; attempts to inform and influence public opinion and Congress; Smyth report; Europe and Israel sojourn; Robert Oppenheimer case; impressions of many prominent atomic scientists. Two editions of the transcript are available. The original was completed by the Oral History Research Office in 1964 and published as microfiche in 1975. There is also a 2010 edition, which was edited by Coryell's daughter, Julie E. Coryell
