Becoming Assistant Dean of Harvard University; first contact with William S. Learned of Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching regarding College Entrance Board admissions exam, 1931-1932; development of National Scholarship Program at Harvard; evolution of college entrance testing, 1936-1942; Carnegie sponsorship of development of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) at Harvard and other Ivy League universities; history and establishment of the Educational Testing Service (ETS), 1937-1947; development of survey on high school education; visit to New Zealand and Australia under Carnegie Dominion and Colonies Fund to develop national college entrance exams, 1952; creation of ETS doctoral psychology fellowship program; Carnegie-sponsored education programs in South Africa and Malaya; study on mathematics education, 1953.
