Research on nitrogen mustard and treatment for shock, teaching activities, Columbia, 1943-68; cancer research and treatment at Delafield Hospital, 1949-68; Director, University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, 1968-73; concerns as Director, Center for Biomedical Education, City College of New York, from 1974; controversy concerning ethnic distribution, reverse discrimination in admissions policies of biomedical program; related difficulties in program accreditation, funding, curriculum development; push for community medicine; work with Council of International Organizations of the Medical Sciences on bio-ethical issues, human rights, internationalization of drug research, development.
