Family background; education at Ball State Teachers College, Brooklyn Museum School, Haystack School; early interest in pottery; time spent in Army; work as apprentice of Bernard Leach and discussion of value of that experience; comments on other early work experince; experience teaching at Pratt Institute and as a visiting artist at other institutions; comments on selling handmade pottery and the value of handmade pottery; views on the crafts world and on succeeding as a crafsman outside of the academic world; comments on the growth of his work.
