Born Chicago, IL, (1951) childhood Westchester County, NY and Washington, D.C; education and career: BA psychology SUNY Binghamton; PhD philosophy and MFA sculpture University of Minnesota-Minneapolis, pre-9/11: artist in TriBeCa, art expressing personal and political beliefs, antiwar activism during Gulf War; 9/11: living two blocks from World Trade Center, hearing plane overhead and witnessing impact, watching collapse from West Village, taking ferry from Javits Center to New Jersey; decontamination process, travel to house in upstate New York, learning of death of son-in-law; post-9/11: relationship with daughter and grandchildren, support from art community, reminiscence of leaving home and moving to Brooklyn, effects of 9/11 on art, working with diverse media, creating contingency plans, vivid memories of 9/11, views of American foreign policy and the effect of 9/11 on American culture, personal changes.
