Background: born, Puerto Rico, childhood in East Village, New York, experiences in street gangs, childhood experiences with graffiti; education: art studies at Fashion Institute of Technology, New York; career: caretaker for New York City Housing Authority, work for The Coca-Cola Company as graffiti artist; 9/11: photographing events from nearby roof, learning of deaths of two cousins and close friends, painting murals as memorial; post-9/11: painting American flag for police department, requests for other memorial murals, importance of unity among Americans.
