Civil Engineering Cornell University 1970; career: contractor in Baghdad, Iraq 1980-1, Project Manager in Aviation Department Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; 9/11: experiencing plane impact on 65th floor of North Tower, building evacuation, witnessing tower collapse, oldest son's experience on WTC plaza; post-9/11: perceived rise of Islamic and political conservatism, assessment of media coverage, cultural differences, discussion of Islam, reflections on politics.
