Background: childhood Queens; education: New York City Police Department [NYPD] police academy; career: NYPD Midtown South Precinct, Neighborhood Stabilization Unit Number Three, Ninth Precinct, Manhattan South Narcotics District, Harbor Unit commander; 9/11: arrival at World Trade Center [WTC] site after tower collapse, coordinated efforts of Harbor Unit and Coast Guard, loss of friends and colleagues; post-9/11: ferrying politicians to WTC site, increase in work responsibilities, intelligence work, coordination with Coast Guard and Interstate Commerce agencies, response and recovery work, impact on personal life.
