Born Brooklyn, NY; education: speech and theatre at Brooklyn College 1972; culinary studies at New York City Technical College 1984; career: musical and stage actor 1972-1983, apprenticeship at Le Cirque restaurant, chef at 21 Club and Maxwell's Plum, author and television chef, chef director at Windows on the World 1997; 9/11: escape from lower level of Building 5 at World Trade Center, witnessing second plane impact, in area during collapse of towers, concern for co-workers; post-9/11: creation of Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund; perspective on fight against terrorism, the invasion of Iraq and civil liberties.
