Background: born New York, TriBeCa resident since 1993; education: Cornell University 1992; career: sportswriter for Associated Press [AP]; 9/11: witnessing first plane impact from Canal Street, immediate interviews on street with other witnesses, with Mayor Giuliani during second plane impact, witnessing collapse of South Tower; post-9/11: volunteer work at site, interviews with volunteers and recovery workers; diary published by AP; increased awareness of international affairs; ground zero memorial; reflections on politics and journalism.
