Born Montclair, NJ; parents' immigration from U.K.; career: restaurant work, naval submarine service age 17 to 23, catering, restaurant management, sales manager at The Hilton New York; 9/11: media coverage of World Trade Center [WTC], stench at 14th Street, food services volunteer work at St. Vincent's Hospital; coordination of food for WTC site workers: lack of media attention for the importance of food work, patriotism; work with chef David Boulet; organization of events for WTC families; post-9/11 political views: importance of military preparedness, emergency food distribution plans.
