Born in New Hampshire; life in Massachusetts, move to New York City 1976; residence across the street from World Trade Center [WTC]; family: wife, three children; education: B.A. Trinity College, M.A. Princeton University; 1971; career: architect, teacher, chair of Department of Architecture at Parsons School for Design; 9/11: witnessing plane crash from living room window, recording with video camera, evacuation of apartment building, re-entrance and retrieval of belongings, sound of collapse; safe arrival at brother-in-law's 12th Street residence; post-9/11: subjectivity of memory; sense of community, vulnerability, relocation, experiences with federal government agencies; WTC site: clean-up, architectural reflections.
