Childhood in Germany; emigration to the United States; assistant to Ernst Lubitsch; early days at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; producer of "Comrade X" (1940), "The Red Badge of Courage" (1951) and "Betrayed" (1954); impressions of Max Reinhardt, Ernst Lubitsch, Louis B. Mayer, Irving Thalberg and Dore Schary. Audio is comprised of narrator's excerpts from the Westinghouse Broadcasting Company's radio program series "Memoirs of the Movies"
