Early childhood in Harlingen, Texas. Youth in Hutchinson, Kansas; father's Episcopal ministry; B.A: University of New Mexico in 1963. Air Force; M.A: Southern Illinois University, School of Fine Arts; early interest in ceramics; influence of L. Brent Kington; participation in group show at American Craft Museum, 1964; professor and Assistant-Dean University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, School of Fine Arts, 1960s;University of Arizona; organized national competition and exhibition,“Copper, Brass, and Bronze Competition,” 1977; crafted first knife, 1980; reflections in bladesmithing and craftsmanship; handle making and handle materials; Vice-president of Academic Affairs, Swian School of Design, New Bedford, Massachusetts; professor of beginner metalwork, University of Arizona in Tucson, 1988; discussion of contemporary bladesmiths and trends.
