Education: New York University Law School; career: rising through ranks of Port Authority since 1965, computer programmer, finance division, assistant general counsel, general counsel in 1991; World Trade Center history: lease arrangements, impetus behind construction, layout of complex; September 11, 2001: on way to work when first plane hit, taking refuge in Marriott, debris falling, collapse of towers, being buried in debris, coordination of Port Authority staff, emergency operations management; post 9/11: responsibility for attacks, U.S. military response, changes at Port Authority, lower Manhattan real estate market, victims' compensation, litigation, insurance issues, designs for new World Trade center and memorial, speaking at synagogue.
