Firefighter; yoga teacher.

Scope and Contents

Career: teacher, computer technician for New York City Board of Education, yoga instructor, fireman; reflections on yoga; reminiscences of early days of firefighting; discussion of fire house culture; 9/11: viewing first plane impact on fire department headquarters television, rescue and triage work at World Trade Center (WTC), clearing roads, problems with communications between firefighters, seeking cover during both tower collapses, evacuation and treatment at New Jersey hospital, immediate return to firehouse and WTC site; Post 9/11: work at WTC site, reminiscence of Father Mychal Judge, firehouse memorials; discussion of healing process, participation in peace rally, air quality concerns, lung-related illness, reflections on emotional recovery and impact of friends.
